Biblical and Gospel Principles
The gospel is the golden thread we should have our hand around in ministry.
The Skill of Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the ability to direct your attention and focus. It’s being able to focus intuitionally; it’s turning your brain into a speedboat instead of a sailboat.
To the struggling/hurting pastor:
Don’t give up. You’ll get past this.
You’re not crazy, even though you feel crazy.
Make 3 appointments (right now!):
Primary Care Physician—Tell your physician what you’re going through. Insist on a full physical.
Christian Therapist—Find a licensed professional that you trust.
A Pastor—Find one that you respect.
If you are in a full-on nervous breakdown, you’ll need 6–8 weeks to recover and heal.
What are some mid-course corrections for a pastor on the wrong track?
- Take some of the immediacy out of your tasks.
-
Listen to the people who have been telling you to pair down.
- Consider bringing in an organizational consultant.
- Create a game plan to take care of yourself.
- Do what you already know you should do.
